ICC T20 World Cup 2022: Super 12s stage Detalis

Afghanistan

In their last 20 games, Afghanistan has won 10 of them, including a series in Ireland that they lost 3-2. They have, however, been tinkering with their batting order. In the World Cup last year, they defeated Namibia and Scotland, but they dropped three of their other matches. Additionally, because of their reliance on spin, they will perform better on American surfaces. It’s sad because they have never defeated Bangladesh in this style.

Australia

They were expected victors the previous year, but twelve months later, they played at home and had a stronger team thanks to Tim David’s ascent to the middle of the order as a free-hitting batter. A repeat performance wouldn’t be shocking because the 26-year-old has already forced Steve Smith out of their side. Because of his poor performance, only Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch appear to have kept Finch in the lineup. Finch has a strike rate of 121 and a 12-month average of 23.47 runs. Maxwell is renowned for his capacity to perform admirably under pressure, and his score of 76 against India in Australia’s most recent warm-up game ought to have been sufficient to ignite the captain’s fire.

Bangladesh

To finish their World Cup preparations, Bangladesh played four games against Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, and the UAE and lost 11. In the tri series in New Zealand, when they faced a whole different set of openers, they likewise dropped all four of their games. The team lacks batting depth as well as firepower, despite the fact that Shakib Al Hazan is still in excellent form and has recently achieved half century against Pakistan, the West Indies, and New Zealand. Bangladesh failed to develop after losing every Super 12s match last season.

England

England was referred to as “the benchmark” for this format in the three-game series by Matthew Wade of Australia. Since they departed their home last month, Jos Buttler’s team has appeared just like it. Despite the injury to Reece Topley, the team remained optimistic. They have Mark Wood, the fastest bowler in the competition, and they provide a wide range of batting alternatives. Despite the fact that bowling is not their strongest suit, if they perform well, they can afford the best.

Coach Matthew Mott

 Captain Jos Buttler

India

India failed to qualify for the Super 12. There were several causes, but their careless batting was the most disturbing. They batted first in the critical matches against Pakistan and New Zealand, reaching respectable totals of 151 and 110 runs in their 20 overs, respectively, but were unable to hold on. Rohit Sharma took over for Virat Kohli after the World Cup. This year, they have averaged 8.20 runs per over, good for a world-leading 9.36. Even without Jasprit Bhumrah, who was an excellent bowler in this style, they still have a very menacing appearance.

Ireland

Ireland is participating in the T20 World Cup for the first time since 2009. It was accomplished by defeating West Indies in the final match of the first stage with an outstanding and convincing victory. Paul Stirling picked up the pace in the game against an undefeated 66, despite the fact that his ability has never been questioned. He will be much more dangerous on his side if he can keep it up. Since being elevated to No. 3, Lorcan Tucker’s performance has significantly improved. George Dockrell finishes strong, averaging 52.16 over the last six months with a strike rate of 146, while he averages 40.81.

Netherlands

The Dutch lost to Sri Lanka in their final first-round group game, as told by disappointed player Scott Edwards. They’re merely difficult competitions, isn’t it, he said? One mistake can ruin you, he warned. With a UAE victory, they moved on to Group 2. Max O’Dowd has been in excellent form, while Bas de Leede has been their most threatening batter and bowler. However, they score too slowly (6.40 runs per over in their group), thus they won’t be able to withstand the higher level of competition.

New Zealand

You probably recognise a lot of the New Zealand squad members from their participation in the final the year before. Any team that features Trent Boult, Devon Conway, Kane Williamson, and Kane Williamson is going to be extremely risky. Michael Bracewell and Finn Allen, who has consistently been a strong opener (31-year-old, who had never played in any format for his country seven months prior, but now is in every one). In the first game, they will face Australia, a team they haven’t defeated since 2011.

Pakistan

Shaheen Shah Afridi’s seam attack is undoubtedly the best in the tournament. He also has the most reliable batting pairing in the form of Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam, who have combined for 840 runs and an average 49.41. The top order has some problems, but as England showed in their seven-game win there last month, they are not impossible to beat. They were the most exciting of the World Cup teams and should be more dangerous on these surfaces if it is possible.

Coach Saqlain Mushtaq

South Africa

South Africa defeated England in three games this summer, despite David Miller scoring only 30 runs. In the Indian series, he showed what he can do. He started with a three-ball duck, followed by a brilliant, unbeaten 47 ball 106 and a five-ball 19. South Africa has a trio with big-scoring bats. Rillee Rossouw, Tristan Stubbs and Miller all have strike rates above 180. Rossouw and Miller both average over 50. The captain Temba Bavuma, who has an average of 10.66 and a strike rate 82, is less promising. He would not be able to compete with the other sides in this competition.

Sri Lanka

After being deemed outsiders by many, Sri Lanka was able to make it through the opening group despite a defeat to Namibia. This earned them a spot in Group 1. Chris Silverwood also made it to Group 1, where he reunited with England. Dushmantha Chamela and Dunushka Gunathilaka, both of whom were victims of muscle tear injuries, have had to be treated by the team. They were clearly not prepared for their first match, but they have improved and are now match-ready.

Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe had the advantage of playing their qualifying tournament at home. They won five of the five matches and swept through the final with five wins from five. Their all-rounder Sikandar Raza scored 228 runs, which is an average of 41.2 runs at a strike rate 154.50. This trend has continued into the World Cup. Raza was not only Zimbabwe’s top run-scorer, but he also ranked second among their bowlers on economy rate (just after Tendai Chatara), and second on wickets, (after Blessing Muzarabani).

Football World Cup: England manager Gareth Southgate criticised for Qatar worker explanations

Gareth Southgate has been criticised by human rights groups after saying workers in Qatar were “united” in deficient the World Cup to go ahead. The England boss said the Gulf state workers “want the football to come to Qatar” because they “love” the sport. Amnesty International said refugee labourers were more worried about having their rights “fully protected”. To know more about England Vs Wales Tickets click here.

Qatar, the host of the World Cup finals from 20 November, has been strongly criticised for its human rights best. Asked by the news channel CNN how significant football is given Qatar’s human rights concerns, Southgate, 52, said: “In the end, football is all. It’s why we’re there, it’s what we’re there to do.”

He added: “I’ve been out to Qatar numerous times. And I’ve met with lots of the workers out there and they are joint in surely one thing. And that’s why they want the tournament to happen.

“They want that because they love football. They want football to come to Qatar. But we also need to be truthful about how much we’re going to affect in a republic that we don’t control.”

It is estimated up to 30,000 migrant labourers have been used on schemes to build seven stadiums for the finals in Qatar. As well as a new airport, new metro and new infrastructures. The English Football Association (FA) has backed calls for recompense to be awarded for “any injury or death related to any edifice project” for the Football World Cup.

Qatar Football World Cup

The England team also plans to invite migrant workers to the team’s World Cup exercise base in Al Wakrah to engage with players.

“As an FA we’ve talked to human rights groups about what they would like to see. And we’re trying to provision those ideas with recompense for families who have lost workers and a worker’s rights centre,” Southgate told CNN.

“We’re supporting the things we’ve been asked to provision.”

Amnesty International’s migrants’ labour rights investigator Ella Knight said:

“Many workers in Qatar will of course be football fans. But what migrant workers have stressed to us is the need to have their rights fully endangered, to be paid properly. Able to change jobs freely and to enjoy safe and distinguished working conditions – before, during and after this competition.”

Knight added: “The World Cup is about to take place with vital labour reforms still very much incomplete business. And thousands of workers abuses remaining unaddressed.

“The opening game is now less than three weeks away and Fifa is yet to obligate to curing workers. And their families for the abuses they’ve suffered despite wide support from the public, FAs, players and World Cup sponsors.

“We urge the FA to maintain its pressure on Fifa, pushing it to recognise. And urgently address the sorrow of workers without whom the World Cup simply wouldn’t be possible.” Minky Worden, director of global initiatives at Human Rights Watch, said: “There are many migrant workers who are proud of the work they have done to shape the Football World Cup in Qatar.

Qatar World Cup

“But there are also many who have suffered avoidable deaths. And harms and until the deaths, loans, injuries and wage theft are compensated. It is not correct to say all refugee workers are ‘united’.

“Any family who received a loved one and breadwinner home in a coffin without recompense from Fifa and Qatar cannot cheer the inaugural of this Qatar World Cup.”

Southgate said before that England’s players cannot do much more beyond discussing human rights subjects in the build-up to the World Cup. England captain Harry Kane will wear a One Love armband which seeks to endorse diversity and presence and act as a message against taste.

Homosexual acts are illegal in Qatar because they are careful to be immoral under Islamic Sharia law, with sentences including fines. Prison sentences of up to seven years – and even demise. In February 2021, the Guardian said 6,500 migrant workers from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh. And Sri Lanka had died in Qatar since it won its World Cup bid.

The number is based on figures from the countries’ embassies in Qatar. However, the Qatar government said the total was misleading. Because not all the deaths recorded were of people working on World Cup-related projects. The administration said its accident records showed. That between 2014 and 2020, there were 37 deaths among labourers at World Cup stadium building sites. Only three of which were “work connected”.

Asked if the injury is an anxiety for the Football World Cup, Potter added: “I think you’d have to say so. ” I don’t want to say any more than that but when a player pulls up like he did, and he felt it. It’s never positive.

“It’s a blow for us and a blow for him and sadly he won’t be the only one who’s pretentious like that in this period. Because October was incredibly thought-provoking, the games that we had to play, but it is what it is.”

‘Heartbreaking so close to Football World Cup’

Former England Football World Cup manager Glenn Hoddle said on BT Sport: “I feel for [Ben Chilwell, dreadfully. Sometimes with a hamstring, you get a little warning sign. That’s when you put your hand up. “That one just went. His face went and as he touches the ball he grimaces and looks in real pain. It looks like a nasty one. ‘Heartbreaking so close to World Cup’

Glenn Hoddle, a former England manager, said this on BT Sport: “I feel terrible for [Ben Chilwell]. A hamstring can occasionally give you a small warning indication. Why they haven’t taken him away baffles me.

“That’s such a setback. I am cleaned for him.”

Former Chelsea and England midfielder Joe Cole said he touched for Chilwell given how close it is to the World Cup. It’s distressing,” he said on BT Sport. “As soon as it happens all you can reason about is that it is so close to a World Cup.

THE LOWDOWN

ENGLAND Vs SRI LANKA

  • England simply had to beat New Zealand to keep their competition hopes alive and did just that, overcoming the Black Caps by 20 runs after their score of 179/6 proved adequate as they restricted New Zealand to 159/6 in response.
  • Skipper Jos Buttler played one of his most crucial knocks for England and easily his best since being named white-ball captain, crashing 73 from 47 balls, whilst fellow opener Alex Hales replied to the pressure upon him by making a very welcome half-century.
  • Sri Lanka remains in the hunt for a place in the semi-finals, but a poor net-run-rate means that they are likely to need a large victory over England If they are to make it, with the expectation that both Australia and New Zealand will win their final ‘Super 12’ fixtures against Afghanistan and Ireland correspondingly.
  • This encounter boasts a fascinating side story as Sri Lanka head coach Chris Silverwood goes up against his former employers, who sacked him following their 4-0 Ashes disgrace in Australia at the start of the year.

T20 World Cup: THE PREDICTION

Sri Lanka most likely needs to win this one by an important margin and may well play into England’s hands, especially their bowlers who will look to order accuracy to try to break the spine of Sri Lanka’s top order with early wickets irrespective of whether they are bowling first or second. After a slow start, it feels like England is preliminary to finding its feet, as shown in what was an excellent all-round performance against New Zealand. If they duplicate those levels with bat and ball in this contest, Buttler’s men will be predictable to wind up too strong for Sri Lanka.

All you need to see is ahead of England Vs Sri Lanka at the T20 World Cup. England set up a score of 179 for New Zealand to pursue down, thanks to the efforts of Alex Hales towards the end of the power play and Jos Buttler further into the runs. Hales hit 52 off 40 before Buttler came into the act and scored 73 off 47. England was abridged to 179/6 by the end of the innings with Trent Boult the only bowler not to take a wicket.

Sri Lanka most likely needs to win this one by an important margin and may well play into England’s hands, especially their bowlers
Sri Lanka most likely needs to win this one by an important margin and may well play into England’s hands, especially their bowlers

However, two wickets for Chris Woakes and Sam Curran as well as a wicket each for Mark Wood and Ben Stokes reduced New Zealand’s total rapidly and, despite a solid effort from Glenn Philips who hit 62 off just 36 balls, Kane Williamson’s side could only reach 159/6 by the end of their 20 overs. England’s win has now put them back up to another in the group table and they must beat Sri Lanka if they are to progress to the next stage of the rivalry.

When is England Vs Sri Lanka?

The two sides will meet on Saturday 5 November 2022 with a UK start time of 8 am GMT arranged for the match. England and Sri Lanka will play each other at Sydney Cricket Ground.
