These are Angola, Senegal, Congo and Cameroon. This is the third time the country has hosted such an event after hosting the Athens 2003 Olympics (Greece) and accessing the London 2015 Olympics (England). Handball venues confirmed for Paris 2024 with arenas in Lille and the capital

Arena 6 of South Paris and Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille have been approved as handball venues for the 2024 Olympic Games in the French capital. South Paris Arena 6 is part of the Paris Expo, an exhibition and convention center that is one of the most active in Europe.

On its 35 hectares and 228,000 square meters of exhibition halls and eight pavilions, the exhibition welcomes more than 7.5 million tourists annually and as a result is the most visited attraction of its kind in France. It is due to host the preliminaries in Paris 2024 and also host weightlifting before handball at the Paralympics.

For handball, it must accommodate between 7,300 and 7,800 people. The playoffs of the men’s and women’s tournaments are scheduled to be held at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy. Opened in 2012, it has a retractable roof, seats 50,186 and is home to the Lille OSC football team, which became Ligue 1 champions in 2021.

In addition to football, it has also hosted handball, basketball, tennis and rugby competitions in the past. He hosted three matches in the 2017 IHF Men’s Handball World Championship, setting a record crowd of 28,010 in the quarter-final between France and Sweden, which was won by the hosts en route to winning the trophy.

The Stade Pierre-Mauroy is also set to host basketball games in Paris 2024 after lengthy negotiations. It was eventually approved as the venue for major international competitions. The arena set a European basketball game attendance record with 27,372 spectators at the EuroBasket final in 2015.

Paris 2024 aims to keep Olympians, Paralympians cool without air conditioners

Organizers plan to use a water-cooling system under the Athletes’ Village – much like the one that helped the Louvre weather the sweltering heat wave that broke records last year – to control the temperature for the Olympians and Paralympians who are stationed there.

The decision is part of the organizing committee’s goal to cut the carbon footprint of the Olympic Paris Games by half and host the greenest Olympics to date by installing special technology that uses natural sources to keep everyone cool even during potential heatwaves. “I want the Olympic Paris to be environmentally exemplary, said Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, who has decided to fight climate change with an ambitious action plan to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions and turn the City of Lights into carbon. neutral by 2050.”

Compared to a conventional project, the Athletes’ Village’s carbon footprint will be reduced by 45% during the construction phase and throughout the Olympic cycle, she said.

For two months, from July to September 2024, the Athletes’ Village north of Paris will host 15,600 athletes and sports officials during the Olympic Games and 9,000 athletes and their support teams during the Paralympic Games. After the games, the 50-hectare (125-acre) site next to the River Seine in the popular Saint-Denis neighborhood will become a green, zero-carbon residential and commercial area with 6,000 residents. those who move as early as 2025.

In anticipation of the heat, the organizers studied the heat in the Athletes’ Village quarter by quarter. They simulated the conditions in the parts of the room most exposed to the sun and tested the efficiency of the cooling system to keep the room temperature between 23 and 26 degrees Celsius (73 and 79 degrees Fahrenheit).

The geothermal energy system will ensure that temperatures in athletes’ apartments in the suburb of Seine-Saint-Denis do not rise above 26 degrees Celsius (79 degrees Fahrenheit) at night, including during potential heat waves, said Laurent Michaud, director of the Olympic 2024 and Paralympic Communities.

He said the organizers conducted the tests in rooms located on the upper floors of the residences, facing south and exposed to direct sunlight from two sides. The direction of the winds in the region and the water temperature in the Seine were also taken into account. They worked closely with the French National Meteorological Agency to develop temperature forecasts.

“Even though the outdoor temperature reaches 41 degrees Celsius (106 degrees Fahrenheit), in most of these rooms we had a temperature of 28 degrees (82 degrees Fahrenheit), Michaud told the Associated Press, detailing the results of thermal simulation. waves. We clearly had lower temperatures in other rooms.”

In addition to underfloor cooling, insulation built into buildings will allow occupants to keep the cold they get at night during the day, Michaud says. To keep the inside cool, athletes will have to follow some basic rules, he said, including making sure window blinds are closed during the day.

Laurent Monnet, who is in charge of green crossing at Saint-Denis City Hall, the northern suburb of Paris where the main Olympic village will be located, said all rooms should be 6 degrees Celsius (11 degrees Fahrenheit) cooler than outside. without AC unit. While some Olympic 2024 hopefuls have already raised concerns about the lack of air conditioning, Monnet said athletes need to adapt and do their part to fight climate change.

“We need athletes to lead by example when they use buildings, Monet said. We can build the most virtuous village we want, and how it is used will affect our carbon footprint.”

Eliud Kipchoge, two-time Olympic champion and world marathon record holder, supported the Paris Plan for Sustainable Development. The Kenyan is one of the most vocal advocates of environmental justice in sport and has repeatedly sounded the alarm about climate change and the impact of global warming.

It’s a good idea because we all need to cut our carbon footprint, Kipchoge told AP. He called on fellow athletes to help fight climate change by reducing their carbon footprint during competition, training and their lives in general because we are all about to go through the same scenario.

The Paris 2024 organizers have contacted the national Olympic committees and said they will have the option to install their own AC units in certain cases and provided the units meet the organizing committee’s technical criteria.

Most national Olympic officials reacted to plans to keep their athletes cool during the Summer Games with a wait-and-see attitude. Some Olympic officials have not ruled out bringing their own air conditioners to France or paying for them locally, depending on the weather at the time.

The Australian Olympic Committee said it will be monitoring weather conditions in Paris 2024 in the coming year to ensure optimal high-performance conditions for our athletes, including temperature and humidity reductions that may be required.

Michaud, the director of the Olympic Village, said organizers want to be kind to the environment, but not endanger the health of athletes. Some athletes, especially in Paralympic events, have difficulty regulating their body’s core temperature and if they reside in rooms in which it proves impossible to keep at 26 degrees Celsius (79 degrees Fahrenheit) at night, national delegations will be able to install a portable AC system.

Michaud said this would be on a case-by-case basis and for the health and safety of the athletes, adding that instead of traditional air conditioners, fans could be installed to evaporate water droplets. Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris, is strongly opposed to turning next year’s event into the Bring Your Air Conditioner Olympic 2024 program, barring a health exception.

“I can assure you that we will not change course and that there will be no changes in the air conditioning program of the village, Hidalgo said. Regarding the option for the organizers to provide the national teams with an additional cooling mechanism, she said: I am against it. We have to live up to our goals.”

Olympic Marathon Swimming star Dearing backed for Paris 2024 push

Alice Dearing was told that her tumultuous experience in Tokyo would temper her in the heat of the Olympic Paris battle. The 25-year-old marathon swimmer from Birmingham became the first black swimmer to represent Great Britain at the Olympics last year, where she placed a disappointing 19th in the 10K.

But Keri-Anne Payne, silver medalist in the 2008 Beijing Marathon in swimming, believes a crucial first Olympic experience, combined with an additional three years of training, will see Dearing challenge for a medal in Paris.

The 35-year-old, speaking of exactly 500 days until this week’s Games, said: The open water team in the UK is still a young team at the moment, but it’s really important for Alice to have that previous Olympic Games experience.

Considering it’s been such a weird year with Covid, I really hope her training has been more active this year. Preparing for the Olympic 2024 alone, in the infinity pool in your garden, when you’re a long distance swimmer, it’s really tough. But now, hopefully, she’s had time to work on her tactics.

“Between Beijing and London, I spent four years just racing as much as I could to literally handle the bumps. I hope this is what she took from Tokyo and it will inspire her to go to Paris.”

Payne came into the spotlight during the 2008 Beijing Olympics after winning the silver medal in the women’s 10 km. And just four years before the London Home Games, the 35-year-old has been hard at work to focus on her skills and popularize open water swimming.

Payne, speaking at the SportsAid Week event, added: I went out into the open water shortly before the Beijing Olympics and came home with a silver medal, she said. From that point on, it really cemented my open water status. I spent the next four years really honing my skills for the home Games, I want to be a home athlete, now I really know how Rockstar feels.

Unfortunately, I finished fourth in London, which was very difficult, but looking back now, ten years later, people still come up to me and say that because they watched this swim, I inspired them to do it open water swimming. To understand where the sport came from and where it is now, this legacy is probably one of my proudest moments to date.

Will people really be able to swim in Paris’ Seine river in Olympic 2024?

Paris authorities and Olympic 2024 organizers have big plans for the Seine – hosting swimming competitions on the river during the Summer Games and then opening it to the general public by 2025 – but how realistic are those plans?

Swimming in the Seine has been banned since 1923, when authorities closed the water to would-be bathers due to high levels of pollution. Since then, the Seine, although known for its beauty as it crosses the city of Paris, has also had a reputation for being cluttered and dirty. Despite this, the organizers of the Olympic 2024 Games in Paris hope to hold several swimming events in the waters of the river, including a triathlon and a 10 km swimming marathon.

The Seine will also play a pivotal role in the Olympic opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, which aims to have hundreds of boats carrying athletes float down the river, watched by some 600,000 spectators along the banks. In the past, people have tried to push for the Seine to be cleaned – former French President Jacques Chirac said in 1990 that he hoped to clean up the water enough for him to swim in it for three years.

This did not happen, but François-Marie Didier, president of the SIAAP (Inter-Agency Syndicate for Sanitation of the Paris Metropolitan Area), told BFMTV that in the 1990s there were only three types of fish in the rivers Seine and Marne. In contrast, there are now 34 fish species in the Seine and 37 in the Marne, showing the progress made over the past three decades in reducing water pollution.

Clean-up project

Despite the fact that the Seine’s quality has improved over the years, many Parisians still associate the waterway with bad smells, litter and dumped electronic scooters.  According to a Slate report in 2021, nearly 360 tonnes of waste are collected from the water each year, which understandably does not make it very appealing for swimming.

Another problem is sewage pollution. According to Vivienne Walt, who covered the cleanup plan for Time magazine, Last year, 1.9 million cubic meters of raw sewage was dumped into the Seine to avoid oversaturating the Paris sewer network and flooding the city during particularly heavy rains.

To address this issue, the Water Quality and Swimming Program was launched for the first time in 2016, funded by the City of Paris and other local authorities with 1.4 billion euros. To solve the problem of heavy rains dumping raw sewage into the river, a large rainwater storage tank is being built near the Austerlitz railway station.

In 2021, the son of the mayor of Paris, Anne Idlago, Arthur Germain, an endurance swimmer, swam the entire length of the Seine from its source near Dijon to the sea at Le Havre as part of an environmental project. You can also sell your Olympic Tickets on our online platform xchangetickets.com.

If the water is clean enough, the Olympic 2024 competitions will be held there in the summer of 2024, and the next stage is the mass swimming, which is planned from 2025. The plan, which is still subject to technical studies, is to create 23 baths along the Seine, 5 of them in Paris itself, and the rest in the suburbs and surroundings of Paris.

Two Parisian sites will be located along the left bank of the Seine (in the 5th and 6th arrondissement), one on the edge of the island Saint-Louis (4th), one in the port of Bercy (12th) and one in the Bois de Boulogne (16th -th place).

These will be enclosed pool-type structures placed in the river to create bathing areas – like the temporary pool that is built every summer on the Canal de l’Ourc in Bassin-de-les-Villettes every summer. At this stage, it is unclear whether the Seine pools will be permanent or summer-only, or what the rules will be for swimming in the river outside designated pool areas.

But will it happen?

“According to the regional authorities of Paris, the stated goal of the water quality and swimming program is to reduce river pollution by three-quarters by 2024. in the Seine, said the prefecture of Île-de-France.”

There is reason to believe that the plan will succeed. In the summer of 2022, daily samples of the river water were taken and they were found to be ‘satisfactory’ or ‘excellent’ 7 days out of 10. And that’s before all the work started – Pierre Rabadan, Deputy Mayor of Paris in charge of sports, Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games and the Seine, BFMTV reported.

The head of the Olympic Organizing Committee, Tony Estanguet, echoed these comments, telling a French news channel that the test results for the summer of 2022 were very, very, very encouraging, this summer’s tests showed that we are already at a level that allows swimming.

Despite these encouraging results, the deputy mayor said hazards such as severe storms could mean the river would have to close for several days to reach safe pollution levels again. In this situation, the organizers will have a margin of two to three days to reschedule the events, Rabadan explained, referring to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Françoise Lucas, a microbiology researcher at the University of Paris-Est-Créteil, told BFMTV that for this reason we should hope there will be no rain at all during the three days leading up to the Olympic 2024.

Paris 2024 – Countdown to Olympic equestrian events gets serious

For riders in Olympic disciplines such as dressage, eventing and show jumping, qualification remains the biggest challenge on the road to Paris 2024. Some key nations, including host nation France, have secured their place quotas and these national federations have been focusing on nominating teams. In the meantime, others are set to field their best teams for the remaining tournaments with qualifying opportunities.

Olympic fans from all over the world can book Olympic Paris tickets from our online platforms xchangetickets.com. Paris 2024 fans can book Olympic Equestrian Tickets on our website at exclusively discounted prices.

Olympic Equestrian Dressage

Including the host country, seven countries have qualified for the Olympic Equestrian dressage competition in Paris, representing 24 out of 45 available team quotas (3 per team). This group includes all three medalists from Tokyo 2020. The reigning champions Germany, USA and UK have secured their places by results at the 2022 FEI World Championships in Herning in Denmark, as have Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands and Australia.

All eyes will be on Germany on their way to Paris as they not only topped the team competition at the last Olympics, but their athletes Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Isabelle Werth also won the gold and silver medals in the individual competition respectively. Bredow-Werndl remains at the top of his game and holds first place in the FEI World Dressage Rankings with his partner from Tokyo, TSF Dalera BB.

Twenty-one team quota places remain (which makes seven teams), many of which will be determined at the continental and regional championships of the year. Most notable will be the 2023 FEI European Dressage Championships in Riesenbeek, Germany in September.

Also available are fifteen individual quota places awarded to athletes from countries that have not yet adopted a team quota. The riders will be men and women, as equestrianism remains the only Olympic sport in which men and women compete on an equal footing.

Olympic Equestrian Eventing

Almost half of the team quotas are already taken in triathlon. Germany is among the first countries to qualify, which should cause some excitement. In the end, the country produced in Tokyo the first Olympic champion in the history of triathlon in the individual competition, Julia Kraevsky.

In addition to the host country, the United States, New Zealand, Ireland, Sweden and Switzerland also qualified. All of these places were earned at the FEI World Championships in Herning, where the United States won its first team medal at a World Championship or Olympic Games since 2004. quota place.

In particular, the Tokyo, Australia silver medalists have yet to take their place. They have remaining opportunities at the FEI Groups F and G Olympic Qualifiers at Millstreet, Ireland in June, and at the FEI European Eventing Championships 2023 at Aras du Pin in France, as well as the FEI Eventing Nations Cup 2023 of the year.

The competition for ranking points for individual slots has begun and will continue until the end of the year.

Olympic Equestrian Jumping

Olympic Equestrian Jumping offers the largest number of quotas of all equestrian disciplines: 75 places, including 60 team athletes. Sweden is undeniably a team to watch on the way to Paris, having won team gold medals at both the Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 FEI World Championships. Having safely qualified, their concern will be trying to replace the incredible all-in Peder Fredrickson, who earned the most festive retirement in February.

Allan, as the barefoot bay was affectionately known, won six championship medals in his career. In Tokyo, he became only the second horse in history to jump the entire Olympic Games without a single board.

The Netherlands, Great Britain, Ireland and Germany also secured places in Herning, while Belgium secured a spot in the 2022 FEI Nations Cup Show Jumping Final in Spain. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have received team quotas for their Group F Olympic qualifiers, but 33 team quotas remain.

The United States took the silver medal in Tokyo, but they will rely on the 2023 Pan American Games to qualify in Paris. Among the sport’s leaders, the US has won back-to-back team gold medals at the 2004 and 2008 Games and won medals at seven of the last 10 Olympics, but there will be pressure in Chile to add to that Olympic resume. If they fail to qualify for Pan Ams, they will have one last opportunity at the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup 2023 Final in Barcelona.

At the 2023 FEI European Championships, taking place in Milan, Italy, from 29 August to 3 September, three team quotas will also be offered for European countries from Groups A and/or B. Fifteen additional individual quotas are also available for athletes from countries that have not yet accepted the team quota place.

Summer Games  – First batch of Olympic equestrian tickets sell out amid emotional rollercoaster for fans

The first wave of equestrian tickets for the Olympic Paris sold out as fans report mixed experiences with the complex ticketing system. The Paris 2024 ticketing process operates on a complex voting system. Fans had until January 31 this year to register to participate in the first round of voting. Those who won the raffle received an email with a 48-hour time slot from February 13th to March when they could purchase tickets.

But this first phase of ticketing is only for Olympic packages fans must select three shows to purchase Olympic tickets. This means that if only one or two riding sessions were available, when a person’s time slot approached, they would need to buy tickets for another sport as well.

Olympic Equestrian ticket prices ranged from €24 (£21.25) for the cheapest seats to €180 (£159.34) for the most expensive, not including hospitality packages. Cross-country day tickets cost €50 (£44.26). The process was criticized by some who were left sad and disappointed for having missed it, with comments that the system was unfair.

Others were frustrated by its difficulty and the fact that you have to buy three sessions, adding that this probably means that some people will buy Olympic equestrian tickets just to fill their quota, as they had to do for others sports. You can also sell your Olympic Tickets on our online platform xchangetickets.com.

Some have experienced problems with the payment system, logging in on mobile devices, or found that the sessions are gone by the time they choose their first option. Others found that tickets were not available when they first searched, only to be made available later. But others were excited to be lucky with their Paris 2024 tickets and are already planning a trip to the Summer Games next year.

The next release is for individual sessions, not ticket packages, which means people will be able to buy tickets for one event instead of three.

“The second stage of ticket sales will open on March and members of the public will have until April 20 to register to participate in the draw, the spokesman said. Those lucky enough to participate in the second phase will receive 48-hour time slots starting May 11. During this period, tickets for equestrian sports as well as all other Olympic 2024 sports and the Olympic opening ceremony and closing ceremonies will be available for purchase. Up to 30 tickets will be available for each timeslot.”

Olympic Equestrian tickets that were issued in the first stage were for sessions without medals. For example, tickets for dressage and cross-country competitions, as well as team and individual qualifying races for dressage and show jumping. This gives some hope to those who are still trying to get tickets. An official resale platform will also be available at some stage.

Demand both domestically and internationally has been strong and there is clearly a real interest from the public in participating in these Summer Games. Demand for the Olympic Games will clearly outstrip supply. There are bound to be disappointed ones. However, it is still possible to buy Olympic tickets.

“The next phase of ticket sales will begin soon and we encourage everyone to register to participate in the draw from March to April 20, 2023. The actual sale will start on May 11, with Olympic tickets for all sports available for just 24 euros.”

The United States and Japan will go for the gold in Paris 2024, two years after an incredible performance at last week’s ISA World Games of Surf, which took place September 16-24 in Huntington Beach, California.

Team USA’s Kirra Pinkerton captured the women’s individual title at the 2022 ISA World Games of Surfing, while Tokyo 2020 silver medalist Kanaoa Igarashi took the men’s title. Both victories contributed to the overall victory of their teams, because everything is based on a points system.

Pinkerton was accompanied by Zoey MacDougall and Gabriela Bryan, and next to Igarashi were Kamiyama Keanu and Murakami Shun. Both teams expressed their pure delight after the competition, awe at what they achieved together with their teammates.

“At the beginning of the competition, I told myself that I want to bring the little girl inside me to the top, and I can’t believe that I succeeded, Pinkerton said in an interview. I am so proud and so happy to be one step closer to my dream of winning gold in the Olympic.”

I learned a lot about myself this week, Igarashi said. In surfing you have to be selfish but I really learned a lot about myself as a person and how important it is to share that competitive energy and knowledge with the team and keep the team together.  The Summer Games 2024 will be only the second time the sport has been part of the Olympic program, and will make its debut at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

Paris 2024 – USA surfer Griffin Colapinto said I don’t want to be the boring guy

In an exclusive interview, the US surfer reveals his secrets to success, why “rebellious spirit” matters, and how to surf at Teahupo’o Olympic Stadium in Paris 2024 in Tahiti. Surfing isn’t devoid of unique characters, but Griffin Colapinto still manages to stand out from his peers.

Maybe it’s the skills of a 24-year-old guy. In 2017, he became the first Californian to win the prestigious Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, and in 2021 he won the US Open of Surfing. He finished seventh in the 2022 World Surf League last season thanks to victories in El Salvador and Portugal.

But there is also his attitude. In a world of elite athletes, often very well prepared by the media, Colapinto breaks stereotypes with his interviews, in which he prefers to communicate with fans and offer them something new. It’s funny, I always see people being interviewed and I’m always so bored and I’m like, I don’t want to be a boring guy! Colapinto said.

“I don’t want to do something like everyone else. If I have the opportunity to tell a story or something like that, I do it with pleasure and just show my true self. I want to connect with other people and that’s how I look at it.”

Olympic Surfing – Griffin Colapinto’s secret to success

Pushing the boundaries of Colapinto is also reflected in his surfboard. He first achieved great fame after landing mid-air at the Hawaiian Pro in Haleiwa in 2016. But where did this reckless attitude come from?

“I just focus on preparing and working hard in training because that’s where you get your confidence from, he continued. If you have taken care of everything you can control and improved everything you could, you can leave everything else to the ocean and just be in the present moment. The rest will follow. said Griffin Colapinto.”

Colapinto grew up in an era where competitive surfing became the norm. But while it has always been his dream to be the best in the world, he wants to do so while maintaining a sporting spirit. In the 80s and 90s, surfers were better known as rebels, he says. But now it has completely changed, and this is a serious sport. You have to train really hard, and now that it’s about the Olympic, it’s taken even more seriously.

“All my hopes and dreams have been to be a world champion since I was a child, and now I also really, really want to compete in the next Olympic 2024. It’s cool to see progress, but it’s so cool to keep the roots and the rebellious atmosphere. So I think I’ll leave that for a bit and then I’ll get serious. It’s a good combination.”

Brazil’s Italo Ferreira and USA’s Carissa Moore won the men’s and women’s titles respectively at Tokyo 2020, and Colapinto wants to follow suit. Despite winning the 2021 US Open, qualifying for Team USA was never a given thanks to her surfing talent. I just need to make sure that I am among the top two or three in our country. I just have to do the same thing as last year. I think this is what is needed.

Olympic Paris – Griffin Colapinto’s tips for surfing Teahupo’o break

Surfing at the Paris 2024 will take place at the world-famous Teahupo’o break in Tahiti. But while the idyllic island in the South Pacific may seem like the sports facility of a dream, athletes know not to take its challenging waves lightly.

“It’s a crazy wave, Colapinto continued. This is really a shallow reef. Coral heads that will cut you open with a single tap. When you are in water with surging waves, it seems like it will just be a huge lull and you will have nowhere to go, but in fact the shape of the reef makes a crazy back wedge barrel and you have to trust that it will do what you know and you just hope for the best.”

To be there for the Olympic 2024 would mean a lot and I really can’t think of a better place to host the Olympic Paris. We will probably have a chance to compete for the Teahupo’o Olympics and I will do everything in my power to make it happen.

Paris 2024 – Home surfing at Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028

Whether or not the 2017 World Series Champion makes it to Paris 2024, he may have an even more exciting Olympic event ahead of him: the next Olympic Games will be held in his home state of Los Angeles in 2028.

Venues have yet to be determined, but there is a chance a surf event could take place at his home beach at Lower Trestles in Southern California. It’s a really exciting idea, very, very cool, he said. Even if it’s not the Lower Flyovers, my home stay, Huntington is a great place too. I like it here. So anyway, I’m happy. By the time that happens, I’ll probably be in the prime of my surfing career, so I’ll have a very good chance.
