Nasser Hussain agrees with Harry Brook that one England hitter has to be in the T20 World Cup team

Watch the fourth T20I between Pakistan and England live on Sky Sports Cricket from 3pm on Sunday. Harry Brook scored a T20I career-high 81 as England crushed Pakistan on Friday. Nasser Hussain believes Brook has done enough to earn his spot in England’s T20 World Cup XI.

According to Nasser Hussain, Harry Brook is “nailed on” to play for England in the T20 World Cup’s opening match after his outstanding efforts against Pakistan.

As Brook scored an unbeaten 81 from just 35 balls to lead England to a convincing victory against Pakistan on Friday, he reached his first T20I half-century.

The 23-year-old Yorkshire batsman also contributed a crucial 42 runs without being out to help England win the first encounter of the seven-match series. However, he only managed 31 runs in a losing effort in the second game.

With players like Ben Stokes and Liam Livingstone unavailable, as well as skipper Jos Buttler who has yet to play in the series due to a calf injury, England is fielding an inexperienced team in Pakistan.

By the time England faces Afghanistan in their T20 World Cup opener on October 22, all three should be back in Matthew Mott’s XI.

“In that first World Cup game, in Perth against Afghanistan, Brook must be penciled in at No 5,” former England captain Hussain said. “He’s a serious talent.

Harry Brook
Harry Brook

“Harry Brook is just going to be a superstar in all formats, he really is. His run-getting over the last couple of years at Yorkshire has been prolific and I think it will continue to be.

“His all-around-the-ground hitting is a key point. Some players will target the leg side, but if you bowl outside off to him, he’ll go over extra cover as well, so there’s no area that you’re safe.

“He’s 360 but in a different way. Like most players now he’s got fast hands, he never really loses his shape, and he continues to be consistent.”

Hussain added that England should resist the temptation to attempt to move Brook any higher in the batting order than the No 5 position from which he has been excelling.

“Batting at five is not an easy position to come in,” he said. “You ask anyone in white-ball cricket where you like to bat then it’s in the top two or three, as you’re batting in the power play and you’re already in when spin comes on and the pace is coming off the ball.

“Every time he has been coming in at five, he has been prolific and consistent, because he has done it before at Yorkshire.

“Going into this series you were looking at how we get Brook into the starting XI, but I can’t see how you can leave him out now. I really can’t, he’s that good of a player and he’s very good on the field as well.

“I think, for me, he’s absolutely nailed-on for that No 5 spot for the first game in that World Cup.”

The returning Mark Wood, who made his first appearance since March after recovering from an injury, was England’s best player with the ball in their triumph on Friday.

Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, and fellow top-order hitter Haider Ali were both critical victims of Wood’s quick bowling, which reached speeds of up to 97 mph, at the beginning of the home team’s innings.

Although Wood’s return is a major plus for England, Hussain has cautioned that the 32-year-old needs to be carefully managed up until the World Cup.

Harry Brook
Harry Brook

“England is a better side in any format with Mark Wood in the team,” Hussain said. “You need that pace, and he’s got express pace, but he’s got accuracy with it as well.

“Everyone focuses in on the 97mph, but…the players nowadays, if that’s wide they’ll just flay you over point for six, over the third man they’ll upper-cut you. He’s accurate; he’s right in at you.

“He’ll need managing. It may be game on, game off, but you don’t want him ready for Karachi on Sunday, you want him ready for Afghanistan in Perth.

“There’s no point in pushing him. He’s a racehorse; they don’t come around too often these sorts of cricketers, so you really have to take care of them.”

One of the pets for the trophy

If England can maintain this method, they will have a good chance of winning the trophy
If England can maintain this method, they will have a good chance of winning the trophy.

The aggressive brand of cricket working by England is now the template for many other nations. If England can maintain this method, they will have a good chance of winning the trophy. Yes, they will miss the likes of Jonny Bairstow but there are appropriate backups in the form of Phil Salt and Alex Hales.

With the ball, though, England could have a few subjects. England T20 World Cup Bowler Chris Jordan is the main man at the death but he could tend to leak runs. Here is where someone like Mark Wood must be obtainable for the team in full fitness. This will help the team in having a balanced squad in the competition.

The England team has welcomed back Alex Hales just in time for the T20 World Cup

T20 World Cup: Hales, 33, has battled his demons and grown up. and is now prepared to take his second shot at the World Cup after scoring seven international centuries, contributing to two ODI totals that broke records, and passing 10,000 career runs in T20.

The three-year exile for England’s white-ball powerhouse Alex Hales is finally ended. Even though he may have had problems staying out of trouble due to scandal and “trust issues.”

Hales was selected for the T20 World Cup squad as a replacement for Jonny Bairstow due to injury. and he has persuaded England’s management that he is a risk worth taking.

Alex Hales
Alex Hales

Due to off-field difficulties, he may not have represented England since 2019, but with his current form, Jason Roy’s struggles. And Bairstow’s leg injury from slipping on a golf course, he has a chance to make an improbable comeback.

Before the 2019 World Cup, Hales tested positive for recreational drugs; at the time. White-ball captain Eoin Morgan claimed that this led to “a complete. Breakdown in trust” and Hales’ expulsion from the team.

The Nottinghamshire batter had already been placed on administrative leave for his involvement in a brawl outside a Bristol nightclub in 2017, during which Ben Stokes, a teammate from England, was initially charged with affray but ultimately found not guilty. He later apologized for “all the offense” he had caused after a photo of him wearing black face makeup in 2009 was revealed in November of last year.

The explosive T20 opener, who helped England to No. 1 in the world rankings and established two one-day international totals records, is back, but where has he been for the past three years?

Smashing the ball about for Barbados Tridents

Hales helped Notts reach the Vitality Blast semifinal in decent form throughout the 2019 English summer. A month after being released by England, he was selected by the Barbados Tridents, the team that placed last in the league stage of the previous season, in the first round of the Caribbean Premier League draught.

Alex Hales

Hales impressed in his first season, helping Jason Holder’s Tridents to the title.

Heading to Durban

After joining the Durban Heat before the Mzansi Super League season, the hard-hitting England star became the team’s new international marquee player in September 2019.

“I have always wanted to play T20 cricket in South Africa, so when I was offered the chance here it was a no-brainer for me,” he said.

Hales once more made an impression, but not enough to help Durban advance.

Time for the Big Bash

Hales signed a one-year contract with Sydney Thunder for the Big Bash League in Australia after having successful stints with the Melbourne Renegades, Adelaide Strikers, and Hobart Hurricanes previously. To know more about England Vs Australia Tickets click here.

He’s one of the most devastating batters, an amazing defender, and obviously a highly experienced player, according to Sydney Thunder head coach Shane Bond.

Hales went on to score 576 runs at a strike rate of just under 150 and finished the 2019 BBL as the second-highest run-scorer. Together with Usman Khawaja, he also created a fantastic starting combination.

Alex Hales

A more mature player and person

In May 2020, Hales said he had “matured” as a player and person and hoped to get back into England’s international plans.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Hales said: “I just hope the damage that’s been done isn’t terminal and I get another bite of the cherry.

“I certainly feel I have matured. As a player and away from the game, I’ve moved on and grown from the mistakes I’ve made in my private life, and hopefully, people can forgive and forget.

“I feel I’m in good head space and hopefully I’ll get the chance to show that in the group environment again. I’d love to get my place back; playing international cricket is the highlight of any player’s career.

“As Morgs (Eoin Morgan) has said, I guess time is the biggest healer. I just don’t know how long that is going to go on. It can be tough to rebuild that trust when you are not in the close-knit circles.”

Back on the road & hotel quarantine

The Pakistan Super League semifinals and championship game were postponed in April 2020 as a result of a request from Karachi King’s batsman Hales.

At two in the morning, Hales admitted to Kings’ owner that he was exhibiting signs of Covid-19.

Alex Hales was a part of the Kings team that defeated Lahore Qalandars in the final, which was ultimately played in November.

Top Order Batsmen Hales was selected for the Barbados Tridents’ Caribbean Premier League team in July 2020, but he was unable to help them reach the playoffs.

Hales was compelled to spend 14 days in a hotel after departing the UK to prepare for the Big Bash in Australia that winter.

“Yeah it was tough – punishing is one way to describe it. it was an interesting couple of weeks not seeing daylight or getting fresh air,” he said.

“It was a new experience but it was worth it now to get the chance to play in the Big Bash. There’s a bit more freedom here than you get back home as well.

“It’s tough to leave home at any time. I have refreshed and only played a month and a half of cricket and it wasn’t in bubbles in the UK.

“I’d be a lot fresher than some of those guys that have been in bubble life since June or July, so I can see where they are coming from. It’s such a huge strain on your mental and physical health to be in those bubbles.

” I am fresh and looking forward to the next couple of months.”

The imposing figure of Hales ended up as the top scorer, helping Thunder finish fifth.

Timely reminder

With a blazing 482 runs at a strike rate of 178 for Nottinghamshire during the 2021 T20 Blast, Hales served as a timely reminder of his skills to selectors.

Despite this, England selectors ignored Hales once more before the ODI and T20 Pakistan series due to a coronavirus outbreak in the bio-bubble.

Michael Vaughan took to Twitter to vent his frustration at Hales’ latest snub.

“So No Alex Hales that must be the end of his international career then find it very sad that someone who made a huge mistake but was punished can’t be given another go,” Vaughan wrote on Twitter.

“We all mistakes every week!!! Those that say they don’t are lying” added Vaughan.

Covid-19 & bubble fatigue

Hales spent the winter in Australia, where he signed a deal with Covid-19, playing for Thunder in the BBL and Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League.

He briefly left the PSL before rejoining, but he ultimately decided to step away from the franchise scene because of the bio-secure environment constraints, which, he freely admits, hurt his mental health.

“I am truly gutted to have to turn down one of the best opportunities of my career due to the toil that the last two years of bubble life have taken on my mental well-being. I’ll now take some time to rest and recharge ahead of the summer,” said Hales.

Due to bubble fatigue, Hales withdrew from the 2022 IPL with the Kolkata Knight Riders, but in April he was acquired by the Trent Rockets for The Hundred.

‘Forgive, move on

After he struck a stunning 59 off 29 balls including four sixes and six fours during the Rocket’s victory over Oval Invincibles, Sky Sports’ Nasser Hussain said: “I try and pick people on their ability as a cricketer. He did the crime, he served his time… forgive, move on.

“But, you can’t tell me from what we’ve seen from domestic franchises around the world… Alex Hales is a serious cricketer.

“Try and pick your best side, but they may know something else, that inner core of senior players may not want him.”

And could take Roy’s place alongside white-ball skipper Jos Buttler at the top of the order, or there could be raised the order for Jonny Bairstow.

I associate him with Symonds: Ponting backs beginner to fire Aussies to World Cup final

England Vs Australia: Ricky Ponting trusts India is the standout T20 team in the world and expects the cricket powerhouse nation to meet defensive champions Australia in the final of next month’s tournament Down Under. Australia revealed their 15-man squad for the tournament on Thursday, which comprises uncapped 26-year-old, Tim David.

Ponting trusts David can have the same devastating influence as Andrew Symonds did in 2003. When the batting all-rounder had his coming-of-age instant and never looked back. The former Australian captain also admitted that if skipper Aaron Finch continued to fail, the pressure is just going to base. Much has altered since Australia won its maiden T20 World Cup almost 10 months ago.

For starters, Justin Langer has moved on as coach, with Andrew McDonald controlling the experienced squad. And while they were underdogs going into the tournament last year, with the circumstances largely foreign to where Australia generally thrives and a struggling team. That had missed a number of its heavy batters in the lead-in matches, McDonald’s side is very established.

“I think the main motive they were underdogs was it was more about the circumstances than whatever else,”

Ponting expressed to foxsports.com.au. They had a really good squad going into that World Cup. I think we fear the Indians and Pakistanis, and those teams in those circumstances. And Australia were just good enough, and all sort of fell in line for them perfectly on that tour to play countless cricket.

 Ricky Ponting

I think India is the standout T20 squad in the world because of the complexity of talent that they’ve got and how many guys that they can just keep delivering in and out of that side and they save winning.

“They’ll play these circumstances well. We’ve seen in the last twosome of years that they’ve played, even now they’re playing Australian circumstances well, so I’ve got Australia and India in the final.”

The major anxiety heading into the tournament is the lack of form from Finch at the top of the instruction.

Nor is it a new object either.

For 18 months Finch has been stressed, with his form woes first coming to a head during the 2020-21 Big Bash. Where he achieved just 179 runs at 13.76. Since 2021, the 35-year-old has achieved just five half-centuries from his past 26 matches. While in ODIs, Finch has had 4 ducks in his past nine innings. Ponting, who too struggled at the backend of his career for constancy, said Australia would be reluctant to move on from Finch at this late stage but confessed he wanted a score or two of note to firm up his place.

 Ricky Ponting
 Ricky Ponting

Australia T20 World Cup

“Well, he had a practical series the one before (this Zimbabwe series), didn’t he?”

Ponting said. And it would have been under more weight at the start than he was at the end. I mean, there’s no doubt he’s had his ups and downs, perhaps more downs the last 12 months than ups. But the balls are in his court.

“I mean, if he lasts to fail, the pressure is just going to last to mount. But if he turns up with a few good presentations from here until then, then I think they’ll stick with him.”

For months Ponting has been impressed by David. Who like Australia T20 World Cup Player David Warner has taken a sole path to the Australian team. After struggling to gain traction in Australia. David has emerged and bloomed in overseas T20 tournaments and been called into the squad on the back of his match-winning appearances.

Ponting, who will work alongside David for the Hobart Hurricanes in this summer’s Big Bash competition, said the Singapore-born Australian could show to be a match-winner if given opportunities.

“It was only a pair of periods ago he was struggling to get a game in the BBL and now he’s one of the more sought-after T20 batsmen in the world,”

Ponting said. I saw them up near in one in the IPL this year, and some of the influence he had on a few of those games (was overwhelming). To know more about New Zealand Vs Australia Tickets click here.

Andrew Symonds actually for the 2003 World Cup

In every competition, he’s played he’s continuing to get better and better. I associate him to a bit like Andrew Symonds actually for the 2003 World Cup. I compute if you get him in and give him a go, he’s one of those guys who could not just win you one or two competitions, he could win you a contest so that I’m sure they’re lucid about him, Ponting added that he was a big fan of Josh Philippe and Josh Inglis.

$1.5m gentleman finally earns call-up, the unsuccessful star dropped as Australia T20 World Cup squad revealed

England Vs Australia: Australia has revealed its 15-player squad for next month’s T20 World Cup campaign, with Hobart Hurricanes batter Tim David earning a long-awaited national call-up. Aaron Finch’s men will look to recall the trophy on home soil this summer after becoming T20 world champions for the first time in the United Arab Emirates last year.

The Aussies have made one change to its successful squad from last year’s tournament, with David replacing Queensland leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson. This is a similar team to that which became the first Australian men’s team to win a T20 World Cup. Who are now very happy about playing the tournament at home, chairman of selectors George Bailey said in a declaration.

$1.5m gentleman finally earns call-up
$1.5m gentleman finally earns call-up

Mitchell Swepson was unsuccessful to miss out based on conditions in the UAE at the last T20 World Cup where we planned for tired. Spinning wickets compared to what we would expect are good batting circumstances along with the larger estates in Australia. Tim (David) lasts to find himself with some quality performances in leagues around the world, making a place in the team.

He is an extremely gifted, natural ball striker. Who will add extra batting complexity to the group? Which has had a lot of success in T20 cricket in recent times. We expect him to play an alike role to that he has been playing in the past few years. As stated by The Age, David will represent Australia as an uncontracted freelancer on match expenditures, affording him greater latitude to play short-format leagues overseas.

Tim David

The T20 globetrotter is on the verge of connecting an illustrious list of cricketers, headlined by David Warner. To make their Australian entrance before playing any first-class cricket. David, who has represented Singapore in 14 T20 internationals. Has been one of the most unhelpful short-format cricketers over the past twosome of years, plying his trade in several domestic competitions including the Big Bash League, Pakistan Super League, and Caribbean Premier League.

The 26-year-old was born in Singapore. But elevated in Western Australia was purchased by the Mumbai Indians for a whopping AU$1.53 million at this year’s IPL auction. Making larger bids than Australian stars Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Marsh. David scored 186 runs for Mumbai this year, averaging 37.20. With the bat at a strike rate of 216.27, nobody scored more IPL runs in 2022 at an improved strike rate.

The powerful right-hander averages a boundary every 4.5 balls. Became just the third cricketer to finish an IPL campaign with more than 100 runs and a strike rate better than 200, joining short-format folklores Brendon McCullum and Andre Russell. David’s aptitude to clear the boundary rope without soaking up deliveries at the crease is priceless. And national selectors would be tempted to slot him into the starting XI at the expenditure of Steve Smith or Marcus Stoinis.

Tim David T20 World Cup Player
Tim David T20 World Cup Player

The prospect of David and Australian stalwart Glenn Maxwell joining militaries in the middle-order is a mouth-watering view for any cricket fan. Speaking to reporters in July, the legendary colors, comparing the uncapped cricketer to a former colleague.

“The way he’s altered his game over the last pair of years is quite remarkable,”

the Hurricanes’ Head of Plan said.

T20 World Cup

It was only a couple of seasons ago. That he was stressed to get a game in the Perth Scorchers line-up. It’s astonishing what happens to players when they come to the Hurricanes, how much they improve. He’s been incredible in almost every competition that he’s played around the world in the last 12-18 months. He’s one player that we’re extremely excited about.

I think there’s a chance for him to hopefully take on a bit more accountability in the batting line-up with the Hurricanes this period as well, because of his consistency. And his match-winning aptitude. We don’t want to waste that we don’t want to have him sitting on his hobbies too long. He’s a very good, very unsafe T20 player that I’m sure the Australian choosers are thinking long and hard about for the T20 World Cup in a couple of months.

If I was a chooser, I would love to have a superstar like that on my team. He’s an out-and-out match-winner. He’s the sort of player that can win you a World Cup. He repeats a bit of Andrew Symonds back in the 2003 World Cup. You know that if you get him in and give him a chance. They’re a chance of winning the competition for you. I know there are some other great world-quality players in the middle order for Australia. But probably none of them claims a resume as good as Tim’s over the last two years.

England drop the white-ball mainstay from the T20 World Cup squad

The 15-person England team has been announced for the forthcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, which will begin on October 16 in Australia.

Jason Roy isn’t included in the 15-man group because of England’s preference for Phil Salt, who made his T20I debut earlier this year, after a terrible run for his country’s side and in The Hundred. Since the final T20 World Cup in the UAE in 2021, Roy has played in 11 T20 Internationals, earning 206 runs at an average of 18.72.

Salt’s inclusion in the ongoing competition The Hundred is recognition for his impressive domestic performance. Currently ranked No. 2 with 313 runs in eight games, averaging 44.71, he is one of the best run scorers.

Jos Buttler, who replaced Eoin Morgan, who announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this year, is leading the squad in its first major competition.

Due to Buttler’s calf injury, Moeen Ali will captain England on their pre-tour to Pakistan, where they will play Babar Azam’s team in seven Twenty20 Internationals.

In the latter stages of the series against Pakistan, England is optimistic that Buttler will be fit again.

After contributing to England’s recent series against South Africa, Dawid Malan is also called back. The left-hander, who will replace Morgan on a like-for-like basis, has a strike rate of 148.27 in T20 Internationals this season. With 358 runs at a 59.66 average, he is currently The Hundred’s leading run-scorer.

Tymal Mills, the leading wicket-taker from the last season until his injury ended the campaign, has been left out of the starting lineup but has been included as a traveling reserve along with Liam Dawson and Richard Gleeson.

Mark Wood and Chris Woakes, two seamers who were injured, have each fully healed and have been included in the squad of 15, according to the ECB.

The team will kick off the 2022 season on October 22 against Afghanistan in Perth with the goal of improving on their semi-final appearance at the T20 World Cup from the previous year.

Jordan Cox, Tom Helm, Will Jacks, Olly Stone, and Luke Wood are among the five uncapped players in England’s 19-man squad for the Pakistan tour prior to the T20 World Cup.

The teams they have selected for the T20 World Cup and the Australia series are the same.

Squad for T20 World Cup and T20I series against Australia:

Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, Jonathan Bairstow, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, David Willey, Chris Woakes, and Mark Wood.

Travel Reserve:

Tymal Mills, Liam Dawson, and Richard Gleeson

Squad for Pakistan T20Is:

Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, Harry Brook, Jordan Cox, Sam Curran, Ben Duckett, Liam Dawson, Richard Gleeson, Tom Helm, Will, Jacks, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Olly Stone, Reece Topley, David Willey, Chris Woakes, Luke Wood, and Mark Wood.

Jason Roy: England’s star opener was not selected for the T20 World Cup or the tour of Pakistan before it.

Jason Roy averaged just 12.66 runs in six T20 internationals this summer. He also started his Oval Invincible Hundred campaign with three ducks in his first four innings. England will play seven T20 internationals in Pakistan before the T20 World Cup in Australia in October.

Following a dismal run of form with the bat, Jason Roy has been left out of England’s team for both the T20 World Cup in October and their T20 tour of Pakistan later this month.

In six T20 international matches this summer, Roy has scored just 78 runs, averaging 12.66. Additionally, he had three ducks in the first four innings of his Hundred campaign for the Oval Invincible.

Phil Salt, who has participated in four T20Is and eight one-day internationals and who scored his first century against the Netherlands in June, has been named to both squads. He could replace Roy at the top of the order alongside white-ball captain Jos Buttler, or Jonny Bairstow could move up the order.

Both squads have included pace bowlers Chris Woakes and Mark Wood after they had fully recovered from their injuries. Both players last appeared for England in March during the Test series against the West Indies.

Chris Jordan (finger) and Liam Livingstone (ankle), two players chosen to England’s T20 World Cup team, will continue their recovery and won’t go to Pakistan, but they are “on track to be healthy for the event,” according to a press release from the ECB.

Buttler will travel to Pakistan while also recovering from a calf injury, but it’s anticipated that the captain will only be able to participate in the final three games of the seven-match series. Moeen Ali will serve as the team’s captain in Buttler’s absence.

Since 2005, a 19-player squad has been chosen to travel to Pakistan, with five uncapped players included. Along with Tom Helm of Middlesex, Will Jacks of Surrey, Olly Stone of Warwickshire, and Luke Wood of Lancashire, batter Jordan Cox of Kent are also featured.

None of the potential debutants were selected for England’s 15-man T20 World Cup squad. Liam Dawson, an all-rounder for Hampshire, Richard Gleeson, a fast bowler for Lancashire, and Tymal Mills, a left-arm quick for Sussex, are listed as “traveling reserves” for the competition.

While the T20 World Cup begins on October 16 in Australia, England’s first group game is on October 22 against Afghanistan, with every game being broadcast live on Sky Sports. England flies to Pakistan on September 14 and plays the first of their seven T20s on Tuesday, September 20, live on Sky Sports.

Jos Buttler was in good form for the Manchester Prototypes, hitting two fifty-plus scores in 6 matches but he picked up the calf wound while playing against Southern Brave on August 18 in Southampton. Buttler’s injury has raised anxieties over his availability for the T20 WC. But the England captain is hopeful of improving well in advance.

Eng is all set to tour Pakistan for a 7-match T20I series from September 20 to October 2 in Karachi and Lahore. And Buttler said he is confident of joining the team for the historic series. England had pulled off a tour of Pakistan last year. But they are all set to play 7 T20Is and 3 Tests in the Asian country. “It is trying to miss some cricket, I have been enjoying playing,” Buttler said, as cited by Sky Sports.

England Vs New Zealand: England Stars discuss chances recall amid Jason Roy’s struggles

England Vs New Zealand: Alex Hales has not played for England since 2019 amid off-field subjects. but his form and Jason Roy’s lack of has hurried talk of a recall Eoin Morgan and Nasser Hussain have their say on Hales, and other choices, with T20 World Cup in October, all live on Sky Sports.

Eoin Morgan

England Vs New Zealand: Eoin Morgan has acclaimed Alex Hales as destructive and a match-winner after his latest exciting knock in The Hundred but says a possible England recall is a matter of trust and not his excellence. Hales smashed 59 off just 29 balls in Trent Rockets’ leading win over Oval Invincibles on Wednesday, repeating selectors of his power at the top of the order on a night when present opener Jason Roy (20) struggled again.

Hales has not played for England in more than three years, having verified positive for fun drugs in the build-up to the 2019 World Cup, which then-white-ball captain Morgan said resulted in a complete failure in trust. But England men’s handling director Rob Key has made it clear that hales is now available for assortment and Morgan, who retired from global cricket earlier this year and was a Sky Sports expert for the Rockets’ win, had his say on the 33-year-old’s form and memory hopes.

The T20 World Cup is live on Sky Sports this October.

There’s one thing around Alex, his quality has never been a query, said Morgan. It’s whether the team would like him in the lateral, or captains can trust him, or the trainer, or the selectors. Rob Key said he is available for assortment, so that means he goes into a pool of players with the likes of Will Jacks, Phil Salt, and Will Smeed, that sort of ability of the player.

“But there’s no doubt he’s very unhelpful and a match-winner.”

Hales has also spoken of his wish to get back in the England fray after his off-field subjects and has been an overwhelming form in recent years. Hales, who averages 37 in 50-over internationals and 31 in T20Is, has been one of the most required-after players in franchise cricket, and his innings on Wednesday included more huge sixes. Eoin Morgan
Eoin Morgan

Nasser Hussain said Hales would today get in his England T20 World Cup team.

I try and pick people on their aptitude as a cricketer really, said Nasser.

“He did the crime, he helped his time, forgive, change on.”

He gets in that extended line that Eoin stated. It’s a bit calmer for him now because there is no Morgan, there is no (Ben) Stokes in 50-over cricket. There is a twosome of occasions. But, at the highest of the instruction, you do have Will Jacks, you do have Jason Roy, you do have Phil Salt, you do have Will Smeed.

But you cannot tell me from what we’ve seen in national franchises around the world that Alex Hales is not a thoughtful cricketer.

“Try and pick your finest side. But they may know something else. That inner core of older players may not want him.”

Talk of Hales possibly returning to the England side comes amid an unhappy run of form for Roy, who has been a mainstay at the top of the order through a hugely-fruitful run in international white-ball cricket.

Jason Roy

But Roy has scored just 76 runs in six T20Is this summer and 30 crossways five innings for the Oval Invincibles in The Hundred. Former England star Kevin Pietersen has backed finest player Roy to recall his place but his struggles have seemingly opened the door for other players such as Hales, with a T20 World Cup looming in October. As stated by Morgan and Nasser,

The likes of Will Jacks and Will Smeed who have both counted centuries in The Hundred this summer – are in contention, while Phil Salt has impressed in recent teams and Dawid Malan has spoken of wanting to move up the instruction. Jos Buttler will lead the England side in Australia, with all competitions live on Sky Sports from October 16.

Daniel Vettori Names Three Indian Pace Bowlers Who Should Be Part of T20 World Cup Team in Australia

England Vs New Zealand: Former New Zealand T20 World Cup captain Daniel Vettori optional three names for India’s frontline pacers to be shared of the T20 World Cup squad in Australia later this year. Team India will host South Africa for five T20 International competitions in June. The series will begin just 10 days after the conclusion of the 15th version of the Indian Premier League (IPL)

Who will be India’s essential pace bowlers for the T20 World Cup?

The five-match T20I series will recommence India’s roadmap for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia later this year in the October-November retro. With too many options available at India’s removal, the rivalry amongst the players will be stiff. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya, and Shardul Thakur were India’s pace bowling options in the last version in UAE. Apart from the above-mentioned bowlers, Umran Malik, T Natarajan, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, and Deepak Chahar could be on Indian choosers’ radar for the flight to Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel have to be on the Indian T20 World Cup team Daniel Vettori

Vettori named Bumrah, Harshal, and Shami as the first three selections in India’s pace battery for the mega event.

“I think (Jasprit) Bumrah and Harshal Patel have to be in the team, just since of their death bowling and what they bring to the bench. Harshal can bowl through those dominant stages,”

Vettori told ESPN Cricinfo.

“The third seamer is intimidating to pick but I think (Mohammed) Shami is potentially payment out because of his aptitude to take wickets in that powerplay, bowl aggressively through the middle stages, and with the back end taken upkeep of with Patel and Bumrah,”

he added.

India is balancing with Pakistan, South Africa, and Bangladesh in the Group 2 of the ICC World Cup 2022. India couldn’t make it through the group stage last period as they lost their first two fittings to Pakistan and New Zealand T20 World Cup and finished third on the table with six opinions.

T20 Is will be held in Karachi and Lahore as England makes its 17-year comeback to Pakistan

Following the T20 World Cup, England will play three Test matches in the nation; New Zealand and the West Indies are also slated to visit.

The men’s squad will play seven T20Is in Karachi (the first four) and Lahore starting on September 20, marking the start of England’s first visit of Pakistan in 17 years (the last three). Before England travels to Australia for the men’s T20 World Cup, the final game is on October 2. In what the PCB referred to as Pakistan’s “bumper international season,” they will also host New Zealand twice, first for five ODIs and five T20Is in April of next year and then for two Tests and three ODIs in December and January. In late January, West Indies will visit Pakistan for three Twenty20 internationals. The PCB announced that the schedules for the Test series against England, as well as the games against New Zealand and the West Indies, would be made public “in due course.”

The only other occurrence of a lengthy bilateral series was the 2019 matches between the men’s sides of Malawi and Mozambique. The series will be the second of seven T20Is or more.

Pakistan will also host the Asia Cup in 2019 for the first time since 2008. The 2022 Asia Cup, which has been moved to the UAE, will begin at the end of August. Pakistan was previously scheduled to host the T20 Asia Cup this year, but swapped with Sri Lanka. However, the 50-over version will now likely take place in Pakistan the following year, leading up to the 50-over World Cup, which will be held in India in October and November. As a result of worries that the SLC wouldn’t be able to hold a multi-nation tournament of this calibre in the midst of the nation’s economic and political turmoil, this year’s Asia Cup was shifted to the UAE (though the SLC remains the host).

On September 20, 22, 23, and 25, Karachi’s National Stadium will host T20 Internationals against England before the action moves to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium for the matches on September 28 and 30, as well as October 2. This was first reported by ESPNcricinfo in early July. The matches all begin at 7.30 p.m. Pakistan time under floodlights.

“We are absolutely delighted to confirm hosting England for seven T20Is in Karachi and Lahore as a curtain-raiser to a busy, entertaining and exciting season of home internationals,” Zakir Khan, PCB director of international cricket, said in a statement. “England is one of the top-ranked T20I teams and them playing the shortest format in the lead up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Pakistan will not only help the team management to finalise their preparations, but will also set the tone for December’s three-Test series.”

In late July, a three-person ECB security assessment team visited Pakistan to evaluate the arrangements. The group returned content enough to approve England’s first trip to Pakistan in 17 years.

“We demonstrated our event planning and operational skills in the highly-successful series against Australia in March-April and I am confident we will be able to replicate these when England visit us for the first time since 2005,” Zakir said. “We have been able to confirm schedule of the T20Is following a successful tour by the England and Wales Cricket Board recce team, which was pleased and satisfied with all our arrangements.”

“We have been liaising closely with the PCB over arrangements for this visit and the Tests later in the year, and will continue to work closely with the PCB, British High Commission and other relevant authorities as we continue to prepare for these tours”

England have not toured Pakistan since 2005, and two of home Pakistan’s home series against them, in 2012 and 2016, were played in the UAE. England also chose to withdraw their men’s and women’s teams’ tours to Pakistan last year citing “bubble fatigue” and increasing concerns about travelling to the region”. This came soon after New Zealand had withdrawn their men’s team, citing similar concerns.

“We are looking forward to returning to Pakistan and playing these seven T20Is as the team builds up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup,” Rob Key, the ECB’s managing director of men’s cricket, said. “We have been liaising closely with the PCB over arrangements for this visit and the Tests later in the year, and will continue to work closely with the PCB, British High Commission and other relevant authorities as we continue to prepare for these tours.

“We would like to thank the PCB and the city authorities for all their ongoing assistance with planning for the tours, including hosting the recent pre-tour planning visit by ECB representatives and the PCA CEO.”

8 players who could power their way into England’s T20 World Cup tactics

Several England T20 World Cup forecasts will be hopeful to amaze in the Hundred in a bid to force their way into Matthew Mott’s plans for the upcoming World Cup the Hundred is set to get happening tomorrow and England white-ball coach Matthew Mott has tested those on the fringes of his side to use the competition to try and force their way into his plans ahead for the World Cup.

Last year, Tymal Mills starred with final winners Southern Brave and was satisfied with a spot in England’s World Cup team, with England losing all three T20I series since that tournament. Homes are certainly up for grips.

“Can players come in? They can. If they’re in form, coming off runs, and we go to Pakistan and they do well,”

Mott said. We need to use that Hundred as an actual springboard to get that sureness back across the entire group.

England T20 World Cup

“My communication to everyone in our dressing area would be that I want you to be the guy. Who is the best player in your team and cabinet your talent. Last year Liam Livingstone was the MVP Most Valued Player and has galloped that wave ever since.”

The guys in our dressing room have the chance to go on that kind of expedition. Every game is on TV, and every game will have a big troop and that should be exciting.

“If you can achieve to a high level in those situations, that duplicates international cricket and replicates World Cups. It’s perhaps the best thing for everyone in the group.”

With that in mind, Mirror Sport has taken a look at eight players who will be hoping to force their way into England T20World Cup team.

Phil Salt

With Jason Roy under burden after scoring just 76 runs off 98 balls in six T20I innings this season, Salt has a massive chance to show. Why he should replace him in the side. The 25-year-old has not opened for England in his four T20I advents so far but has been awestruck at the top of the order in ODIs. To know more about England Vs New Zealand Tickets click here.

England T20 World Cup Tickets
England T20 World Cup Tickets

He has been even in the squad this summer but made just one entrance at number four against India. Should he jump opening the batting alongside Jos Buttler for Manchester Originals, Salt could discover himself initially with the England captain at the T20 World Cup.

 Harry Brook

Another player who has been even in England squads this summer. Brook’s featuring role for Northern Superchargers in last year’s Hundred aided him to earn his international debut. Although he is yet to make a major influence on England, Mott has challenged him to go back to the Hundred. Get a crag of runs and keep putting weight on those more established names.

Should Brook excite in the Hundred once again, he will likely be on the plane to Australia in October. The 23-year-old will surely get chances in the upcoming T20Is against Pakistan and Australia and will be frantic to continue his good form in the Hundred so he can make the most of those probabilities.

Tom Banton

Banton has also been in and everywhere the England setup in recent years but endured a lean 2021 where he averaged just 12 in The Hundred for Welsh Fire. However, he began to discover some form in this year’s T20 Blast for Somerset, blasting 73 off 41 balls in their quarter-final win over Derbyshire. And he later scored his maiden first-class hundred in the County Competition.

Although Salt appears to have leapfrogged him in the striking order, Banton did open for England in their five-match series against the West Indies in January. Particularly scoring 73 off 39 in the third T20I, and an imposing Hundred campaign could see him back in the team.

Will Smeed

A real breakout star from last year’s competition. Smeed struck 166 runs at an average of 33.20 and a strike rate of 172.91 for Birmingham Phoenix. He is a player England has their eye on, having been included in the England Lions team. Which faced South Africa in two 50-over warm-up matches last month.

England T20 World Cup Tickets

Coming off the backbone of an impressive Blast campaign for Somerset, Smeed is in form and part of a group of very brilliant young openers challenging for Roy’s spot. Aged just 20, he is a hugely talented prospect. It seems only a matter of time until he breaks into the England arrangement.

Rehan Ahmed

The 17-year-old leg-spinner has loved a magnificent year so far, which began with him featuring at the Under 19 World Cup where England over runners-up. His displays at that tournament earned him a Hundred deal with defensive champions Southern Brave and he also starred for Leicestershire in the Blast, taking 19 wickets at an average of 20.15.

He was also part of the Lions side which took on South Africa last month and later qualified with the senior team, learning priceless lessons from Adil Rashid. Who believes Ahmed has a big future ahead. Should the teenager star for Southern Brave, it is not out of the query that an England debut will follow.

Jake Lintott

Having been recruited in by Southern Brave as a wildcard pick last year. Lintott ended The Hundred as their foremost wicket-taker with 11 at an average of 19. The left-arm wrist spinner has been dubbed the Jamie Vardy of cricket after only signing his first full-time expert contract at the age of 27.

Now 29, Lintott has featured for Birmingham Bears in the Blast over the last few years and even signified Barbados Royals in the Caribbean Premier League. Fortune Barishal in the Bangladesh Premier League. Additional who was part of the recent Lions team, a second imposing Hundred campaign could see him given a chance to provide some competition for Rashid. Chiefly after Matt Parkinson thrashed against India.

David Payne

With several seamers out hurt at the moment, Payne is one player who could benefit if he excites in The Hundred for Welsh Fire. He has been a part of several England teams over the last few years. And made his international presentation against the Netherlands in June.

England T20 World Cup Tickets
England T20 World Cup Tickets

The left-arm has an astral T20 record, having taken 151 wickets at 22.12 across his career, and has shone both with the new ball and at the death. Having liked an impressive Blast campaign with Gloucestershire. Where he picked up 18 wickets at 13.88, an outstanding showing in The Hundred could see him earn a T20I debut.

Luke Wood

Another left-arm seamer who was part of England’s current trip to the Netherlands. Wood will almost definitely be on their radar during The Hundred. Although he did not make his debut on that journey, he was specifically name-checked by Mott. When the team was announced.

The 27-year-old is capable of attainment speeds of over 90mph, and has impressed with both the new ball and at the death in T20 cricket. And is also a useful hitter with two first-class hundreds to his name. Should he excite Trent Rockets, Wood could find himself part of England’s T20 World Cup plans.

T20 World Cup: He’s your best player Kevin Pietersen needs England not to drop Jason Roy

England T20 World Cup Kevin Pietersen has sponsored Jason Roy to rediscover his form and urged England not to drop the stressed opener, calling him the team’s best player. Roy, who starred in England’s 2019 World Cup win has endured a deprived summer. Scoring 197 runs across 11 international innings. The 32-year-old has also made a subdued start to The Hundred, marking ten runs in two games. And falling for a first-ball duck in Oval Invincibles’ initial fixture against London Spirit.

However, contempt his lean run of form, Roy has received public support from England myth Pietersen. Who says he should keep his home in the team for the T20 World Cup later in the year. Jason is 32 and what I’m sick and tired of in this state is people getting written off at such a young age, Pietersen told Sky Sports. Jason is a World Cup winner, he’s done an implausible job for Eoin Morgan England’s former white-ball captain. He was told by Eoin, like the whole team, to go and slap the ball.

With spanking the ball and being a risk-taker, you are going to fail and when you start deteriorating. Failing can happen for a long time. If Rob Key director of England men’s cricket is hearing, he is England’s best player and he has been England’s best player for several years. What they should be saying is back your best players. If they substitute him and put a new guy in for seven T20s in Pakistan and he fails. People twitch saying we need Jason Roy for the World Cup.

Leave Roy.

Give him the chance through the Hundred and T20s and back him. They’ve done it with Zak Crawley in the Test team Ben Stokes has firmly said Zak Crawley will play for the rest of the season. England needs to do that with Jason Roy in the T20 World Cup team. Oval Invincibles captain and England wicketkeeper Sam Billings also imagines Roy to return to form sooner rather than later. Speaking after the Invincibles beat Welsh Fire on Sunday, Billings told BBC Sport. We have all watched and respected him all his career and seen what he can do to the best bowling bouts in the world. It is funny. Everyone says go strike at 160, regular 40, and take down. The best bowler straight away and we take it for a given. Inappropriately this game is a game of peaks and troughs. It is just a matter of time with a player like that. He is a match victor and can solely take a game away from anyone. Roy has been a dependable and unhelpful member of England’s white-ball team since 2015, scoring 29 fifties and ten hundred in 171 matches.

Batting Average Jason Roy

But he struggled throughout England’s recent series defeats to India and South Africa, be around 12.66 across the six games with a strike rate of 77.55. Next, in the South Africa series. England white-ball coach Matthew Mott refused to rule out dropping recognized players ahead of this year’s T20 World Cup in Australia. Asked if he would be reluctant to endorse new faces to the squad ahead of the World Cup, not really. For me, it’s about making good decisions at the right times and advisement up everything.

When you’ve been a great player

And you’ve brought great things on a big stage, I think you deserve a bit of loyalty. And I’ve always supposed that, in great teams, different types of players fire and they miss out. You can hold that for a bit, and you get some currency from having brought on the big stage. But at certain times, hard choices need to be made. Young players come in and add vigor. And we have two players Phil Salt and Harry Brook on their hobbies, they are chomping at the bit for a game and I think that’s well.

So that they’ve now got an opportunity to go back to the Hundred, get a crag of runs. Keep putting pressure on and be ready for when that opportunity does come. It’s about making good choices at the right times. It’s not that no one on the team has a mortgage on a spot. The nature of cricket proposes that at different times, players come in and out of form.
