CSA announce Franchise Fixtures for 2019-20 Cricket Season

“Once more we have merged our franchise fixtures with the Standard Bank Proteas international commitments during the next nine months,” commented Cricket South Africa Chief Executive, Thabang Moroe.”

The four-day series will start in October to coincide with the Proteas Test Series in India. It will take a pause from the end of that month and will restart in time for the celebratory season when England arrive for their Test Series in South Africa.

These tournaments will then take a break at the end of January to allow for the Momentum One-Day Cup in February and March when we have a series of Momentum ODIs against England, Australia, and India. Once again, the knock-out phase of the One-Day Cup will entail two semi-finals and a final after the conclusion of a home and away double round.

The four-day tournaments will then have its final two rings in the last week of March and the first week of April.

“I cannot stress enough the importance of our national system and the important role it plays in our talent development pipeline for the Proteas. One only has to look at the case history of Rassie van der Dussen who has been one of the big success stories of the last season,” concluded Mr. Moroe.

Cricket South Africa’s vision is to make cricket an actually national sport of winners.
This has two elements to it:

  • To make ensure that cricket is supported by the majority of South Africans, and available to all who want to play it.
  • To pursue excellence at all levels of the game.
