The event’s rapid rise in popularity enabled The Duke of Richmond to restore the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit. Originally opened in 1948 by his grandfather, the racing driver Freddie March, it had been inactive since 1966.
In 1998, Goodwood introduced the inaugural Goodwood Revival, paying tribute to the golden era of the Motor Circuit’s active years. The Revival also featured a Bonhams auction, echoing the success of the Festival of Speed and cementing the brand’s role at these iconic gatherings. Building on this momentum, the Members’ Meeting was launched in 2014. With Bonhams|Cars hosting its first sale at the event the following year, in 2015.
